How Academic Supervisor works
A supervisor that questions your thinking — and never writes for you.
1Choose what you're writing
A proposal, thesis, journal article, paper review or term paper. Each comes with the standard structure for that type.
2Sections unlock in order
Only the first sections are open. Write one, accept it, and the next unlocks. This is deliberate — it stops you writing a methodology before you have settled a question. Accepting snapshots a revision; you can always come back and edit.
3Ask the AI Supervisor
Four modes on every section. Evaluate gives strengths, weaknesses, omissions and questions. Spar argues against a choice so you have to defend it. Align checks your sections agree with each other. Stuck? diagnoses why you can't move and gives you non-writing next steps.
4Plan in the Matrix and Literature tables
The Alignment Matrix maps each research question to its objective, approach and method. Literature records what you have actually read. You fill both — the AI Supervisor only reviews whether they hold together, and it will never name a source, because AI invents citations that look perfect.
5Flag and keep your own view
If you disagree with a concern, you can acknowledge it and keep your version. That is recorded honestly rather than hidden, and your export will say so.
6Export when complete
Once every required section is accepted you can export your work — your writing, the Matrix and your Literature. No AI Supervisor text is ever included.
Reading, writing, saving and accepting are always free. Only AI actions cost credits, and they are priced by how much text the AI Supervisor has to read — the button always shows the price before you click. If a response comes back malformed you are not charged.
Credits & billingIf your institution has assigned you a supervisor, you decide which projects they can see — open a project and use the Supervision panel. They get read-only access and can comment; they can never edit your work. By default your school (human) Supervisor sees your writing but not your AI Supervisor history, so you can be honest with the AI Supervisor about being stuck. You can stop sharing at any time.
